Arrow Kerela Trip 2010

Kerala, a magic land of wonders and wonderful people. The land is blessed with Golden beaches, Crisscrossing backwaters, Verdant hills, Lush green ubiquitous coconut groves, Palm fringed canals, rich and versatile culture. All these beautiful and ratified circumstances make the land as God’s Own Land.

My dream Destination “ God's Own Country”

Journey : Kerela in November 2010
Destinations : Cochin,Ernakulam,Cherrai,Chalakudy, Munnar,Devikulam,Kumily,Thekkady,Allepy .
Members of Trip : Jasbir Kaur Bhatia and Ravi bhatia(My Husband)
Duration: 18 November 2010 – 2 December 2010.

It was the night of 18 November 2010 when we got a bus for Delhi from Chandigarh. At early morning we reached Delhi bus stand and from there we reached Nizammudin railway station to get the Sampark Express .At the railway station it was mentioned that Trivendrum express is going to come at 6 am.We were Confused with the name but anyhow we were able to get the comfortable berth in a train. We were accompanied by the army officers and pilots. They told us about kerela- its atmosphere, culture ,traditions and the people. One of them was going to be married soon and he was very much worried about his marriage as it was a love marriage and his inlaws were of different culture. We passed through various junctions and it was an amazing experience to watch the INCREDIBLE INDIA!!!

Finally we reach the Ernakulam Town.We wrongly got down at town instead of junction.Anyway we got auto and went to Cherai beach on Vypin island.Oh!!! kerela is a well developed state .I had never thought Kerela would be like this!!! Wonderful.

Then auto turns toward the backwater Waao!!!! Back water is amazing and at last we reach the cherai beach .Cherrai beach - the 10 kms of long golden Beach is very clean, shallow and pacific and evokes irresistible temptation for swimming and sunbathing. Dolphins are occasionally seen here. We saw so many dolphins .One of the most beautiful stretches of lovely golden beaches of soft sand facing the Arabian sea , an azure sky and warm clear sea, gives a perfect ambience tempting you to take a dip, go on indulge yourself and let the waves sweep you off your body and spend your time lazing on the beach and relax in the breeze shade undisturbed for some time, quench your thirst from tender coconuts and encounter with many a friendly crabs.

We reserved the room in Sealine Beach Resort .The rooms were very expensive in Kerela as it was the month of November and Sabriwala festival was going on .
What better place to relax and enjoy yourself than the romantic dunes that adorn this island .You could enjoy the privacy and intimacy of a secluded, natural setting and a warm inviting atmosphere, where the sunsets are spectacular!

This photograph shows the way from sea resort to beach.Would you believe sea is just at a distance of few stairs.

Then we went to cherrai beach to watch the sea god .I don't have words to write the way I experienced when I saw the sea for the first time in my life.
The sea, the sea: our ally and friend
The seascape drawing us in
In triumph, two sweethearts together
Creating Minstrels in the sand.

Cherai has the calm serene Backwaters on the other side and the land is filled with coconut trees which make this a very unique and precious gift of the Mother Nature. It is rightly called the “Princess of the Arabian Sea”

Then in afternoon we went to cochin. We were planning to purchase a ticket of ship which could get us to backwater and Arabian Sea .But as weather was not fine for a visit to sea,the members of kerela tourism told us to purchase ticket tomorrow as this was the only ship which arrange Music ,orchestra and Dance .We were very sad and starting moving .Suddenly we heard a voice ..Bolgathy Ferry..come come!!!. We got ferry for bolgatty Island just for Rs 4 per head..Could you imagine four rupee!!!
Bolgatty Island — the island where the British established a Royal Residency, which is now converted into a five star hotel. Famous for its large golf course, horse riding tracks, marina and boatyards.Name: IMG_0177.jpg

The Bolgathy is a beautiful island and people in ferry were just looking at us as we seem to be little bit different from them. Some thought that I am an European .We have to explain them that we are north Indians. The main Problem we faced was of language as there were few people who could understand english. The local people were not comfortable with the vocabulary. You have to explain the things in a very simple words.

We enjoyed a lot at bolgatty island .It's a wonderful Picnic Spot.We purchased hand made chips to eat on bolgatty island. These chips were of some different taste but were very tasty. That was my big mistake that I hadn't purchased one more packet ,I thought I shall get these in whole kerela but it was only at bolgatty. We enjoyed a lot at bolgatty island .Its a wonderful Picnic Spot. Then we went to watch the ifrastructure of that area .As weather was becoming worse so we got ferry and return back to cochin and from there got bus for Ernakulam. At Earnakulam we purchase an umbrella as it started raining heavily and there at Ernakulam shopping complex one of muslim guy become our friend!!! You know why ???? because of my earrings made of Peacock feather. We purchased few things from there shop .The kerela people are very simple and helpful. They helped us at every step.As weather was becoming more worse so we got auto for cherrai and finally reached Sealine beach Resort. There we had a dinner in the restaurant .Everything is prepared in Coconut Oil and food was Quite tasty . The weather was awesome and we enjoyed the sea waves .

Default Kerela (Backwater Ferry & cochin & Ernakulam& cherrai Beach)

Now on next Morning (22 Nov 2010):-We got up early in the morning. We had a break fast and got down the stairs and enjoyed a lot on the Cherrai beach. It was a beach full of foreigners. Most of them were staying in Cherrai beach resort. We had a coconut water. Its really difficult to finish a single coconut. Then we had taken photographs at Home stay.We try to interact with the people but they won't understand English. Only 2 kids were able to interact little bit with us .As soon as we spoke few words of Hindi they were frightened and run away into their Hut. Name: IMG_0761.jpg

It was nice experience to walk on a lonely road .On one side is the backwater and on another side it was sea.Amazed by the beauty of Cherai !!!This could be easily be described as the center of the romantic universe, where luxury resorts and spas dot the island with thatchedroof villas and fabled ambience.Peace lovers don't miss a chance to visit cherai!!!.

Then we return back to Sealine Beach resort and got ready for visit to ernakulam and Cochin. We got auto and then in bus again went to Ernakulam. The sights on the way were beautiful. You could find temples and Churches on Vypin Island.

Then at cochin we wish to reserve a ticket for evening ferry but again they told us as weather is not fine so we won't be able to visit Arabian Sea.And moreover they were waiting for at least 25 people for journey. So we decided to visit Ernakulam and Cochin.Mean time they will get more people.
This is a bread Pakoda of Ernakulam. Its made of Banana and is sweet in Taste.

These are the Raidy wala of Ernakulam.Smile Please!!!No need to say that ,all come and interact to you with a sweet smile on their face.I was amazed by the Generosity of the people of Kerela.

Kochi is the financial capital of Kerala and, with a population of more than 2 million, the biggest urban agglomeration in the state. Again we return back but disappointed as no body was interested to take that ball dance ship.Name: IMG_0176.jpg

Size: 83.1 KBSo finally we got another private ship for visiting islands. The Ferry took us to Willingdon Island ,Bolgatty Island,Vypin Island ,Mulavukadu,Vallarpadam,Cochin Harbour,Chinese Fishing Net.The Ferries are the best way of getting about between islands. It reaches faster and it is cheaper and much more comfortable than buses or autos.

I was too late,Sky was dark and it started raining heavily. We took bus and reached cherrai bus stop but rain was so heavy that we had to wait at the shopping complex and we again visited the shop of that shopkeeper. This time his wife was there and she recognized me due to the earnings. She call him too and we discussed with them about our next visiting to chalakudy .They asked whether you will return back or not.We told them that we want too but we have to cover so may destinations so not possible. They helped us to got the auto for cherrai beach .This time auto was very expensive as no auto was ready to go to cherrai beach as it was risky to cross the bridge made of mud .Any how we took the risk and reached safely at cherrai beach. The sea level was raised and high tides were strucking against the rocks. It was horrible .We spend lot of time at the restaurant watching anger of Sea God.We were watching how ships were struck in high tides .We were frightened as waiters told us that when Tsunami came in 2004 huge ships were thrown at the beach like toys. That was a very horrible night !!!

Default kerela 2010(THRISSUR)

Athirappilly and Vazhachal and Chapra Fall(Thrissur)

On 23 Nov 2011 we spend few minutes at the cherrai beach and what we saw....Guess what ??? DOLPHINS!!!!My eyes were dying to see them. Now it was time to say bye to all and very difficult for us to leave that beautiful place. We hired indica for chalakuddy and on the way we visited a temple. The temples in kerela are different from North India. There was a huge lamp outside the temple .Kerala temple architecture is unique, and it is in harmony with the natural resources and the climatic conditions of the region.

Then car passes through lust green forest. Would any body in North India believe on this .Its fields of banana extended in miles.

The Driver took us to River Rock Resort which is situated at the side of River Chalakkudy. We got our Villa and it was beautiful. But horrible place during night hour !!!Thick dense forest full of animals!!!But I was not at all frightened because I love forest habitat but ravi was not allowing me to sit outside.

Then we stroll in the garden of resort and finally Jeep took us to Athirappilly and Vazhachal and chapra fall.First of all we saw Chapra fall which about 5 kms from Athirappally fall.Inspite of rainy season the water was as white as milk. The fall seems to be like a nector . This again was a beautiful and scenic waterfall at a very close proximity and can be enjoyed thoroughly from an arms distance.

Then driver moves towards the Vazhachal fall. Vazhachal is a picturesque spot just a short drive from Athirapally and is adjacent to dense green forestland.

Vazhachal is part of the Chalakkudy River.

Both the waterfalls, their cool, misty waters cascading down in the backdrop of thick green forest and rocky terrain, are a scintillating experience to visitors.Name: IMG_0238.jpg

We have to walk a lot to sea the river and the fall. There we met the Adivasi Group also.We had taken lots of pictures with them. Then we had eaten a banana there. It was so big in size and was delicious too.It was an ideal picnic spot.
